In June 2025, we took a bold and meaningful step: we became Fintua.
This wasn’t just a change of name or logo. It was the public expression of something that had been evolving behind the scenes for years – an acceleration of our mission, a deepening of our identity and a future-facing commitment to our clients around the world.
As CEO, I’d like to share why we made this change, what it means for the businesses we serve, and what hasn’t changed at all.
From Taxback International to Fintua: A natural evolution
Many of you have known us as Taxback International, a name that served us well for 25 years. We built our reputation on trusted VAT reclaim services and grew to serve some of the largest global enterprises, supporting indirect tax recovery across over 180 countries.
But over time, our clients’ needs changed and so did we.
We didn’t just grow bigger. We grew smarter, faster and more connected. Our work expanded beyond reclaim into full indirect tax compliance, real-time reporting, e –invoicing, payments to authorities, API integrations and automated solutions like Comply.
We had become more than a service provider. We had become a technology-first business, a specialist in indirect tax automation, data intelligence and digital compliance.
That transformation deserved a name that matched the scale and ambition of what we do today.
So we created Fintua.
What Fintua means
The name Fintua reflects two worlds we operate in every day.
“Fin” represents our fintech core – smart, agile and data-driven.
“Tua” comes from the Irish word tuath, meaning “tribe” or “community.”
Together, they signal who we are:
A global fintech business with a human focus, born in Ireland, powered by people and built to serve finance and tax teams around the world.
It’s a name that honours our heritage while pointing to our future. It gives us the space to talk about our technology, our values and our vision in a way that goes beyond tax reclaim and toward something much bigger:
Empowering businesses to move faster, smarter and more confidently in a complex tax environment.
What’s changed – and what hasn’t
What’s changed
Our rebrand is much more than a visual refresh. It reflects deep, strategic shifts:
- We’re now a solution-first company.
Our core solutions are Comply, Recover, eInvoice and Pay. These solutions automate VAT compliance and recovery, enable e-invoicing, handle cross-border payments and offer full visibility to our clients.
- Our Comply solution integrates with any ERP system or other accountancy systems and is now available on the SAP Store – the online marketplace for SAP and partner offerings. Listing Comply on the SAP store marks a pivotal step in transforming how global enterprises manage indirect tax. Organisations can now embed a fully automated VAT compliance solution straight into their infrastructure, transforming a traditionally manual, error-prone process into a seamless, audit-ready workflow.
- We’ve invested heavily in engineering and product design.
Our user experience is at the forefront of our all solutions. With our new rebrand we’ve improved the UI of our core solutions for our clients which feature user-friendly designs making them easier to use. Our solutions are built to support tax and finance teams with minimal friction and maximum insight. Our talented team with over 25 years’ experience in product development, indirect tax advisory, consultancy and research are shaping our future-ready solutions and supporting our journey.
