The Hungarian Tax Administration “NAV” will introduce a new online platform called eVAT (eÁFA).

The plans for this online platform are to support a machine-to-machine transmission of transactional data for the VAT Return via XML or otherwise called M2M API.

In addition, the platform will have an analytics part which derives its information from real-time invoice reporting (eSzámla), data from cash registers, data from customs and other systems.

Through the analytics, the taxpayers can create various templates to see the information they desire, including how their VAT return will look like and what amounts it will include.

The taxpayer must upload their XML and the system will compare the provided data with the one already available. If there are some mismatches it will block the filing of the VAT Return and investigation should be made.

The eVAT M2M System is still in development and the technical documentation provided is constantly changing, but a live environment will be available in the beginning of 2024.
