The Ministry of Finance in Slovakia has launched a new communication and IT system for eInvoicing.
This new system is called the Electronic Invoice Information Systems (IS EFA).
Issuing invoices and receiving domestic transactions will be possible with this new eInvoicing system.
For foreign taxpayers, they will need to use email in order to send and receive invoices to and from the Slovakian public administration. This email address is foreign-invoice@einvoice@mfsr.sk.
The Slovakian government will ignore the title and body of these emails; they will only read the attachment. The attachments will be verified and added to the system manually or they will be rejected. The foreign taxpayer will receive a confirmation or rejection email.
Resident taxpayers can use their own certified accounting software or they can use a free online portal that is operated by the Ministry of Finance to fulfil their obligations.
Slovakia has proposed a plan to implement the new system, this is split into two phases:
- From January 2022, eInvoicing will be introduced for B2G, G2G and G2B transactions; and
- From January 2023, eInvoicing will be introduced for B2B, B2C and G2C transactions.
