September 2021 VAT Changes in Bulgaria

A proposal has been submitted to the Bulgarian parliament for the application of a reduced VAT rate of 9% for fruits and vegetables.

The current VAT rate is 20%.

The Bulgarian parliament will vote on the proposal.

The proposal is that this would be a temporary measure and would last from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023.

September 2021 VAT Changes in Thailand

At the end of August 2021, it was announced that the 7% VAT rate will be extended for a further two years.

Thailand reduced the VAT rate from 10% to 7% in September 2020.

This VAT rate reduction was originally intended to end at the end of September 2021.

The VAT rate will remain at 7% until 30 September 2023.

September 2021 VAT Changes in United Kingdom

The VAT rate for hospitality will increase to 12.5% from 1 October 2021.

In July 2020, the government announced a temporary reduced VAT rate of 5% would apply to hospitality, accommodation and certain attractions.

This reduced rate was extended to 30 September 2021.

This reduced VAT rate of 12.5% will be in effect until 31 March 2022.

From 1 April 2022, the standard VAT rate of 20% will apply.
