May 2021 VAT Changes in Belgium

Belgium has announced there will be a temporary reduction in VAT on restaurant and catering services to support restaurants and cafes.

From 8 May 2021 to 30 September 2021, the VAT rate will be reduced to 6%.

Before the temporary reduction, the rates were:

  • 12% VAT on meals
  • 21% VAT on drinks

May 2021 VAT Changes in Germany

  • The temporary reduced VAT rate of 7% for restaurants and catering has been extended until 31 December 2022

May 2021 VAT Changes Greece

The temporary reduced VAT rate of 13% for the below has been extended until 30 September 2021:

  • Non-alcoholic drinks;
  • Coffee;
  • Passenger transport; and
  • Cinema tickets
