On 7 August 2024, the National Assembly passed the law that will see the introduction of the Euro into Bulgaria.
The adoption of Euro is subject to Bulgaria fulfilling a number of criteria.
According to experts’ opinions if the respective criteria are considered fulfilled in 2024, Euro may be adopted from 1 July 2025.
The National Assembly published in the Official Gazette Nr. 70 from 20 August 2024 the Law for the Introduction of the Euro.
The Law contains rules for:
- double marking of the prices;
- double circulation of both currencies;
- currency conversion;
- adaptation of information systems and registers;
- accounting and tax documents and declaration; and
- changes in all affected laws (including VAT).
